The Plan of Salvation
In mormon doctrine, there is a teaching called the Plan of Salvation, which refers to God’s eternal plan for each of His children. Mormon doctrine teaches that each person born on the earth was first born as a spirit child of God in what Mormons call the pre-existence. The next part of the plan involved coming to earth and obtaining a body, going through a proving ground of keeping God’s commandments, and, after physical death, returning to God and increasing eternally. Since the natural man is an enemy to God, however, an atonement had to be made whereby man might return to God after all. This atonement was wrought by Jesus Christ.
