This option backs up files to commercial servers for a monthly fee and uses existing broadband connections for backups and restores. Users that do backup online have the capability to restore lost files on demand 24/7, depending on server load and network speed. This allows true off site storage of data without having to invest in expensive off site facilities, and share capacity utilization and economies of scale amongst many server users. Cost is usually quoted as flat rate per month for small users or scaled depending on amount of data.
